Jefferson    pawprints5.gif   pawprints5.gif   pawprints5.gif   pawprints5.gif

Jefferson was so shy, and hid from us so well, that we really didn't know there was something wrong until the last day.  He was thin and dehydrated, and intensive treatment efforts failed.  We found him the next morning, 07/14/19, on the bottom bunk, having passed peacefully in his sleep.

Biography:         Jefferson was abandoned on our property in a carrier with a note attached.  The note said he was FeLV+ and fully vetted.  We re-tested him and indeed he was FeLV+.  The rescuer stated he was being threatened by people in the neighborhood where he lived as an outdoor cat.  But no matter the reason, abandoning any animal at a shelter is never appropriate.  Jefferson is semi-feral and spends much of time outdoors.  He's not aggressive, but he crouches in fear if you approach him.  We can pick him up and put him in our lap, but again, he is very scared and not happy to be there.  We hope that over the winter months, when he spends more time indoors, he'll realize that people aren't so bad afterall.
