Biography:        Salem was rescued from a hoarding situation by Safe Haven of Iowa County.  After spending weeks on our waiting list, we finally had a space for him.  He gets along well with the other cats, but is a little skittish around people.  Salem lets us pet him, but after a few minutes he wants to take off.  But that's not surprising -- he never had much attention in his earlier life.  Salem has never hissed or growled at us though; he seems pretty laid back.  We think that over time, he'll welcome attention more and more.  Meanwhile, he's just going to have to get used to attention -- we have lots of volunteers who love black cats!
