Smokey succombed to complications of the feleuk virus -- weight loss, dehydration, anemia.  After putting up a very brave fight for several weeks, he let Jenni know on 03/23/16 that he was ready to say good-bye (even though we were not).  Smokey was our own little "welcome wagon," cuddling up with each new arrival (especially Ale) to make them feel safe and loved at last.  He will be deeply missed.

Biography:        Smokey was a sickly stray who arrived at Norma's farm in the summer of 2009.  She nursed him back to health, only to find out that he tested positive for the feline leukemia virus.  It's so sad when a super friendly, neutered, front-declawed cat, shows up somewhere as a stray, since you know he must have been someone's pet at one time.  We were so glad that we had the space for him!   Smokey was used to being around other cats, and he blended in perfectly with the other kitties in his room.  He likes attention and loves to be held and petted, but he is not a demanding kitty.  If you're looking for a declawed cat, he may be perfect for you!
